Delaney, DiGiallonardo and Piapot earn All-American honors
Polson runner Morgan Delaney placed fourth and David DiGiallonardo was 12th at the USATF National Junior Olympics Championships at Shelbyville, Ind. on Saturday, Dec. 14. Overall, the Mission Mountain Mercury team had 11 athletes who qualified for nationals and ended the day with three All-Americans.
“This group worked very hard this fall to make this trip and the results a reality,” Mission Valley Mercury Coach Jason Delaney said.
Morgan Delaney was fourth in the 15-18 girls race with a time of 18:54. In the boys race, David DiGiallonardo was 12th with a time of 16:27, and Jacob Piapot was 55th with a time of 17:48.
In the 13-14 4K girls race, Quinn Delaney was 37th (14:39), Koko Scott was 107th (15:25), Toren Wenz was 199th (16:10), Taryn Cochran was 262nd (16:52), Reese Adams was 276th (17:01), and Emma Heiner was 376th (19:43).
Briggs Delaney was 293rd (12:16) in the 11-12 boys 3K race, while Anneliese Kleinmeyer was 248th (15:22) in 9-10 girls 3K.
The team scored 23rd as a team during a cool and muddy day at the Blue River Cross Country Course.
