Lady Pirates, Maidens split games at Frenchtown Tip-Off
Lady Pirates split first two games of season
Polson split their two games at the Western Tip-Off Tournament in Frenchtown on Dec. 13-14. The Lady Pirates fell to Fergus 47-26 in their Saturday game against the Golden Eagles.
Rylee Taylor-Jefferson led Polson with eight points, but the Lady Pirates couldn’t quite get the offense going. Fergus had a 19-6 lead in the first quarter and a 29-14 advantage at the half. Polson scored five points in the third and seven more in the fourth.
Hinkley Moss added six points, while Sam Rensvold had a three-pointer. The Lady Pirates were 7-for-11 from the free-throw line but only had nine field goals in the matchup, while Fergus had 19.
Polson opened up the season on Friday with a resounding 56-16 victory over Stevensville. Taylor-Jefferson had 13 points as the Lady Pirate defense held the Lady Yellowjackets to just three points in the first and second quarters.
The Lady Pirates led 39-6 at halftime and opened up the second half on a 13-5 run.
Ahri Rushing notched 10 points, while Moss added nine points. Aleysia Black also had eight points.

Ronan downs Hamilton, falls to Timberlake
Ronan opened their season with a split in the Western A Tip-Off Tournament in Frenchtown on Dec. 13-14, with a loss to Idaho’s Timberlake and a win over Hamilton.
On Saturday, Ronan had a slow start that the Maidens couldn’t quite overcome in a 54-42 loss to the Lady Tigers. Timberlake led 16-6 after the first quarter and 30-14 at halftime. Ronan did outscore the Lady Tigers by four points in the second half.
Arianna Zepeda and Zailee Hewankorn led the Maidens with 10 points and three steals each. Ronan finished with 11 steals as a team.
Against Hamilton on Friday, Ronan went on a 16-3 run in the second quarter en route to a 44-26 victory over the Lady Broncs. Lauryn Buhr led the Maidens with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Hamilton led 9-5 after one quarter but Ronan went into halftime with the 21-12 lead. In the second half, the Maidens outscored the Lady Broncs by three points in the third quarter and finished the game on a 6-0 run.
Kailyn Marengo had eight points – including two three-pointers, four rebounds and three steals, while Ally Luedtke pushed past the century mark in career scoring with seven points and five steals. As a team, Ronan had 23 steals.
