Lady Pirates tripped up by Sidney, Park

The Polson girls fell to 1-3 on the season in a close 51-48 loss to Sidney in crossover basketball on Saturday, Dec. 21. Aleysia Black topped 100 career points in the matchup, and Sam Rensvold led the Lady Pirates with 12 points.

Sidney went on a 16-9 run in the second quarter for a 25-18 halftime lead. Polson outscored their opponents by four points in the fourth quarter but the Lady Eagles held on for victory.

Rylee Taylor-Jefferson and Black each had 11 points, while Hinkley Moss had seven. Rensvold notched three three-pointers in the game, while Black had two.

On Friday, Park posted a comeback in the fourth quarter to defeat Polson 52-49. Jefferson led the Lady Pirates with 13 points, including three three-pointers, but Polson was outscored by seven points in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Pirates jumped out to a 14-13 lead in the first quarter but trailed 27-23 at halftime. Polson outscored Park by eight points in the third quarter to take the lead again, but the fourth quarter did not go the Lady Pirates way.

Black scored 12 points, while Rensvold went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and finished with eight points.
