Ronan clamps down on Libby

Libby was held to four points in the first half, and Ronan Maidens came away with a 44-21 Northwest A victory during a doubleheader home game last Saturday. The victory moved Ronan to 5-8 on the season and 3-4 in league play.

Ronan led by seven after the first quarter and went on a 17-2 run before halftime for the 26-4 lead. Both teams played evenly in the second half, and the Maidens cruised to victory.

Kailyn Marengo led Ronan with 11 points, while Zailee Hewankorn notched nine points and Neveah Perez had eight.

Lady Pirates fall in Browning

Polson scored two points in the fourth quarter and fell 57-30 to Browning in Northwest A Conference action on Friday, Jan. 26. Samantha Rensvold led the Lady Pirates with nine points.

Browning was ahead 16-13 after one quarter and then went on a 17-7 run before halftime.

The Lady Indians opened the second half on a 20-8 run to further add to their advantage, and both teams combined for six points in the fourth quarter.

McKenna Hanson also added six points to the Lady Pirates’ efforts.

C-Falls wins at Ronan

Ronan fell to 4-8 on the season with a 60-17 loss in Northwest A Conference action against Columbia Falls on Friday, Jan. 25.

Columbia Falls led 7-2 after the first quarter but went on a 21-5 run in the second quarter. Ronan notched 10 points in the second half in the loss.

Maddy Illig led the Maidens with five points.

Columbia Falls improved to 3-2 in conference play and 4-6 overall, while Ronan fell to 2-4 in conference play.

Lady Pirates stump Libby

Polson’s defense clamped down in the middle quarters, and the Lady Pirates came away with a 44-38 Northwest A Conference victory over Libby on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Trailing after the first quarter 10-9, Polson went on an 11-9 run for the 20-14 halftime lead.

After extending their lead by two more points in the third, Polson fended off any Libby late-game heroics for the victory.

Rylee-Taylor-Jefferson led Polson with 10 points, while Julia Barnard had nine points.

Ronan takes out Whitefish 

Ronan overcame a one-point second quarter to battle back for a 40-36 Northwest A Conference victory on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

Whitefish led 13-10 after one quarter in their home gym and then went on a 6-1 run in the second for a 19-11 halftime lead. Ronan fired back with a 14-7 run in the third quarter to pull within one point, 26-25, and outscored the Lady Bulldogs by five points in the final stanza.

Maddy Illig led the Maidens with 15 points, while Ally Luedtke and Arianna Zepeda each had six points.
