Class B Girls: Lady Bulldogs win 10th straight game

Mission won its tenth straight game, downing Anaconda 61-60 in non-league road basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 27. 

“Our team is playing well with a couple of conference games coming up,” Mission Head Coach Dalton Delaney said. “We are hoping we can continue going strong. This past week, our defense has been extremely solid." 

The back-and-fourth game saw Mission take an early 13-11 lead but Anaconda outscored the Lady Bulldogs by seven points in the second quarter for a 33-27 halftime lead. Mission pulled within three points in the third quarter and edged out the narrowest of victories in the fourth. 

Kason Page led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points, while Kieran Incashola notched 14. Brooklyn McClure had nine points. Ellannah Flat Lip had eight points.

“We have a couple different standout players every night, and each one of the girls is playing great basketball,” Delaney said.

Mission improved to 11-2 on the season with the victory.

“The girls come in focused at practice,” Delaney said. “It helps that we have some important games coming up against Eureka this week and next.”

Charlo wins rivalry matchup against Arlee

Charlo snagged the bragging rights in the Lake County rivalry matchup against Arlee in nonleague basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 27. Sheadon Kain scored 28 points for the Lady Vikings as her team defeated the Scarlets 68-25.

It was a quick start for the Lady Vikings, with Charlo jumping to a 23-3 lead, then pushing their halftime lead to 41-9.

Lead Mesteth’s 17 points led Arlee. The Scarlets fell to 2-11 on the year, while Charlo improved to 9-4.

Deer Lodge downs Scarlets

Arlee fell to Western 6B foe Deer Lodge 54-34 on Friday, Jan. 26. Deer Lodge went on a 20-5 run in the third quarter to take command of the game.

Deer Lodge took a 15-6 lead to begin the game and had a 26-16 advantage at halftime. They used their big lead in the third quarter to take full command of the matchup.

Adalyn Jacobson led Arlee with nine points, while Madison Valdez notched six. Arlee fell to 0-4 in league play.

Mission moves to 4-0 in league play

In a game that was close in the first half, there was very little doubt in the second half as Mission downed Western 6B foe Thompson Falls 62-41 on Thursday, Jan. 25.

Mission trailed in the first quarter but was tied with the Lady Blue Hawks 21-21 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs then went on a 25-11 run in the third quarter and outscored Thompson Falls by five in the fourth.

Cora Matt and Kieran Incashola scored 14 points for Mission, while Ellannah Flat Lip scored 13. Izzy Evans was the fourth Lady Bulldog in double-digits with 11 points.

With the win, Mission improved to 4-0 in league play.

Mission shuts down Troy

Mission’s defense shut out Troy in three quarters in an astounding 68-3 Western 7B victory on Tuesday, Jan. 23. In all, the Lady Bulldogs gave up just three points in the second quarter.

Ten different Mission players scored, with Cora Matt leading the way with 21 points. Kason Page added 10 points, while Izzy Evans and Ellannah Flat Lip each added eight.

Mission led 50-3 at halftime.
