A Lodge Grass man appeared in Polson District Court Jan. 24 on charges of assaulting a child. Jordale Stephen Not Afraid, 34, entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.

The alleged incident occurred April 15, 2021, and involved a “Jane Doe” who was 13 years old at that time. When Not Afraid was questioned by BIA Special Agent Shawn Smith, Not Afraid allegedly admitted to the allegations made by “Jane Doe.”

Not Afraid requested to be released on his own recognizance through his public defender, Bob Long. Prosecutor Ben Anciaux, with the Lake County Attorney’s Office, objected saying FBI records showed a prior incident of a similar nature in 2010, but did not expand on the matter.

Judge Molly Owen set the case for trial July 15. Not Afraid remains in the Lake County Jails with bond set $25,000.
