B Girls: Mission bests Troy; ends winning streak to Eureka

Mission defense keeps Troy off scoreboard in fourth

Mission shut out Troy in the fourth quarter and held the Lady Trojans to just six points in each half as they came away with a 56-12 Western 7B victory on Friday, Feb. 2.

Mission led 18-4 in the first quarter and pushed that lead to 31-6 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs then outscored Troy by eight in the third and finished the game on an 11-0 run.

Izzy Evans led the team with 17 points, while Kason Page had 13. Mission improved to 6-1 in league and 12-3 overall. Evans crossed the 400-rebound threshold for her career on Senior Night for the Lady Bulldogs.

Mission’s winning streak ends

Eureka surged in the third quarter to beat Mission 64-59 in Western 7B basketball action on Thursday, Feb. 1, ending the Lady Bulldogs’ 10-game winning streak.

Mission trailed 19-12 after the first quarter but went on a 17-7 run in the second quarter for a 29-26 lead.

Eureka battled back, outsourcing the Lady Bulldogs by 11 in the third for a 48-40 advantage. Mission tried to come back in the fourth, but its efforts fell short.

It was the first league loss for the Bulldogs, while Eureka improved to 6-1 in league play.

Arlee trounced by Missoula-Loyola

Missoula-Loyola moved to 8-0 in Western 6B basketball action with an 84-13 victory over Arlee Scarlets on Saturday, Feb. 3. The Breakers led 54-3 at halftime.

Adalyn Jacobson and Leah Mesteth each had four points for Arlee, which fell to 0-6 in league play.

Scarlets fall to Florence-Carlton

Florence-Carlton scored 34 points in the first quarter as Arlee fell 64-16 in Western 7B basketball action on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Kaylee Turner led the Scarlets with seven points. Florence Carlton improved to 5-3 in league action with the victory.
