Polson Seniors: Tax assistance available

The Senior Center is providing AARP Tax Assistance on Mondays or Thursdays, through April 15. Call to set an appointment time. Pick up your packet and forms at the center prior to your appointment.

A new activity: Wood Carving for beginners! Sign up at the center and leave a phone number for more information. Advanced carvers may join in. Some tools may be provided.

Tai Chi classes meet 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays, through Feb. 27. This slow and relaxing movement exercise helps with balance and flexibility. The six-week session is $30 for non-members with a $15 discount for members of Polson Senior Center.

Senior bowling is available at 1 p.m. Tuesdays ($13 lane fee).

Other activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.

Space is available for card or board games and other small groups. Call for time slots.

A veteran’s representative will visit the center Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m.-noon.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for Grab-n-Go.

Upcoming main dishes include: soft-shell tacos, Feb. 7; hot pork sandwich, Feb. 8; fish dish with tater tots, Feb. 9; beef vegetable soup, Feb. 12; ham and scalloped spuds, Feb. 13; BBQ ribs and Hear’s my Heart cookies, Feb. 14; oven-baked stew, Feb. 15; and sloppy Joes, Feb. 16.
