Charlo hasn't lost to a Western 14C team this season, and they aren't about to start. The Lady Vikings picked up a 53-27 win over Hot Springs in the district championship game on Saturday, Feb. 17, in Polson.

"They have put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to put themselves in a position to bring home a trophy," Charlo Head Coach Jeff Buck said. "I was very happy for the girls that their hard work resulted in the outcome they have been striving for."

After the first quarter, Charlo led 16-6 and finished out the half on an 8-4 run for the 24-10 score. The Lady Vikings then opened the third quarter up with an 18-8 run.

Sheadon Kain had 17 points, while Darcy Coleman notched 11 points. Charlo improved to 14-4 on the season with the victory.

"I think we have some momentum in our favor going into Divisionals," Buck said. "We are going in with an eight or nine-game winning streak. That should give the girls some confidence going into the tournament that they belong there.”

The coach added, however, “anyone that has been around basketball long enough knows that anything can happen at the tournaments, and that's why they are so entertaining."

Frenchtown hosts Divisionals.

Charlo takes down Two Eagle

Charlo jumped out to a big lead and never looked back in a 64-24 tournament victory over Two Eagle on Friday.

"What really stands out to me the most about this team is their dedication to play defense at a high level for all 32 minutes of the game," Charlo Coach Jeff Buck said. "While we had some big scoring nights by Brielle Zempel (18) in the semifinal game and Sheadon Kain (17) in the championship game that helped us out tremendously, defense is what we hang our hats on."

The Lady Vikings led 22-2 after the first quarter, led 28-8 at halftime, and posted a 22-9 run in the third quarter. Charlo was led by Brielle Zempel's 18 points while Seeley McDonald had 13 points and Sheadon Kain had 11.

Two Eagle was led by Jodessa McGreevey's 15 points.

"I hope my girls can take pride in the fact that they have upheld the legacy of excellence in Lady Viking Basketball that has been decades and generations in the making," Buck said. "They have made their coaches, parents, school, and community very proud."
