Polson man pleads not guilty to forging car title
A Polson man is accused of falsifying documents as a means to gain control over a vehicle. Dillon Michael Stiles, 32, entered a plea of not guilty in Polson District Court Feb. 14 to felony charges of forgery and identity theft.
According to court records, on Dec. 1, 2023, a woman contacted law enforcement to report her ex-boyfriend, Stiles, forged the title to a 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton that she says she purchased several years ago when the two were still in a relationship. Stiles allegedly presented a statement of fact which appeared to be executed and signed by the woman. However, she says she had not signed any documents nor had she given Stiles permission to sign the documents on her behalf.
The VW is valued at between $3,200 and $5,700.
Judge Molly Owen set the case for trial on July 15.
