Chiefs fall in two at Divisionals
Ronan’s season ended at the Western A Divisional Tournament, as the Chiefs dropped two contests in Butte Feb. 22-23.
Ronan’s first opponent was the south’s No. 1 seed, Hamilton, which had a quick start to the game and maintained their lead on their way to a 59-49 victory last Thursday.
Hamilton jumped ahead of Ronan 16-7 in the first quarter. While the Chiefs cut the lead by three points in the second quarter, they trailed 31-25 at halftime. The Broncs then added one point to their advantage in the third and three points in the fourth.
Kolby Finley led the Chiefs with 19 points, while Marlo Tonasket had 14 points.
The Chiefs then dropped into the consolation bracket, where they faced Dillon on Friday. The Beavers came away with a close 50-42 victory over Ronan.
Both teams were tied after one quarter, but Dillon took a three-point lead at halftime, 28-25. The Beavers held on in the second half, outsourcing the Chiefs by two points in the third and three points in the fourth.
Finley again led his team with 16 points, while Ted Coffman and Marlo Tonasket each added nine points.
The loss concluded Ronan’s season with a 12-10 overall record.
