| February 29, 2024 12:00 AM

On Feb. 15, 2024, Ila Kaye Griffin, our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother lost her life in a tragic car accident along with her cherished granddaughter, Katie Griffin.

We are comforted knowing she is now in the arms of her Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ. Her love and spirit continue to dwell among her family and friends at this time of grieving. We find solace in knowing Ila Kaye and Katie went hand in hand together as best friends.

Ila Kaye was born Feb. 7, 1944, in Ogden, Utah, to Fred and Eldora Coles. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, William Griffin; her three children, Bryan Newton, Nicole Eason (Jim) and Joshua Griffin (Christina); grandchildren Austen, Hunter, Brynlee and Dallin Newton, and Hannah, Porter (Maggie), Claire and Trinity Eason. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth O’Brien (Rick). Ila Kaye is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eldora Coles, and sister Sue Harvey (Harry).

Ila Kaye enjoyed helping young people discover the passion for learning. This was her true joy in life, whether it was teaching and sharing her beautiful love of music or touching the lives of young adults in school and seminary class. She was the consummate teacher while being an educator for over 55 years.

Ila Kaye had a compassionate spirit and was always assisting others and lifting their burdens in times of need.

A visitation with the family will be Friday, March 1, at the Ronan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 2, at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ronan. Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in St. Ignatius.

We will long for your beautiful playing of the harp and piano until we meet again. “Be Still My Soul” (Psalms 46:10,11).
