Lady Vikings bow out at Divisionals

Charlo battled through the Western C Divisional Tournament in Frenchtown Feb. 22-24, winning one game and losing two others. That concluded the Lady Vikings season, which included a district championship and a regular season league title.
Charlo won their first-round matchup, taking down Phillipsburg 56-52 on Thursday. It was a close contest all the way, as the game was tied 24-24 at halftime. Charlo was able to gain a four-point lead going into the fourth quarter and held on for victory.
Sheadon Kain led Charlo with 18 points, while Seeley McDonald tallied 14 points, and Brielle Zempel added 12.
In the divisional semifinals on Friday, Charlo ran into 20-1 Twin Bridges, which handed them a 68-22 loss. Twin Bridges led Charlo 26-11 in the first quarter and held the Vikings to just 11 points in the next three quarters.
Zempel led Charlo with nine points, while Kain added six.
In the consolation semifinals on Saturday, Charlo faced off against Seeley-Swan, and while both teams exchanged big quarters, the Blackhawks came away with the 52-45 victory.
Seeley-Swan went on a 15-4 run to round out the first half for a 27-16 lead at the break. Charlo then answered back with an 18-8 run to pull within 35-34 in the third.
In the fourth, the Blackhawks outscored the Lady Vikings by six points to pick up the victory and end Charlo’s season.
Kain’s 19 points led the Lady Vikings, while Zempel had eight points. Charlo finished the season with a district championship, a 15-6 record, and an 8-0 league record.
