Polson police respond to gun-related incidents

| January 4, 2024 12:00 AM

Officers with the Polson Police Department responded to two gun-related incidents over the holidays.

On Dec. 21, officers responded to a report of gunfire striking the Apostolic United Pentecost Church building at 411 8th Ave. West.

Officers confirmed the building had been struck by gunfire and was occupied at the time of the shooting. No one inside the building was injured.

On Dec. 25, Polson Police were dispatched to 102 Kari Lane in response to a burglary alarm at the Depoe Junction pawn shop. Officers quickly responded to the scene and found the building had been broken into. The front doors appeared to have been forced opened with the vehicle driven by the burglars. The business owner reported multiple firearms had been stolen.

A vehicle allegedly used in the theft was recovered by the CSKT Tribal Police outside of Polson and investigators located firearms inside.

Anyone with information about either case is encouraged to call 406-883-8211 and speak with Captain Mathieu Gfroerer or email him at mgfroerer@cityofpolson.com. Both investigations are ongoing.

“Any incident involving gun violence, religious institutions, or firearm theft is of the utmost

importance to us and we will continue to vigorously investigate these cases with our law

enforcement partners and every resource available to us,” said Polson Police Chief George Simpson in a press release.
