Ronan Boys, Girls win Western Invite
Ronan won the Western Montana Boys Invitational that it hosted on Saturday, Jan. 6, notching 234 total points.
Ridge Cote won the 120-pound bracket for Ronan, accruing two falls and a major decision. Teammate August Courville won the 126-pound bracket with two falls and a decision in the semifinals.
WilJames Courville was the top wrestler at 152 pounds. The Ronan wrestler pinned two and then picked up decisions in the semifinals and first-place match. Teammate Landon Bishop won the 170-pound bracket, recording two pins and two technical falls.
Fortino Silva placed second at 145-pounds for the Chiefs, rattling off three straight pins on his way to the championship match. Teammate Tristan Fisher was second at 182 pounds, pinning two and winning a decision to reach the championship match.
At 103 pounds, Ian Dillard placed second with two pins and a technical fall for Ronan. His teammate Cole Dalke was third at 205 pounds, after notching three falls in bracket action.
Jairyn Krause was fourth at 138 pounds for Ronan, notching two pins and a technical fall on his way to the third-place match.
At 160 pounds, Nate Young was fifth for Ronan, scoring a fall and a major decision.
Ronan Girls get several first-place finishes
Ronan had three champions at the Western Girls Invitational in its home gym, while Polson had several wrestlers visit the podium as well.
River Cote won the 100-pound bracket for Ronan, pinning three en route to the top of the podium. Katie Dolence was first at 126-pounds, with three falls and a decision for the gold.
Teammate Brynn Courville won the 138-pound bracket, notching four falls as she tore through the bracket.
Amanda Webster was second at 114 pounds for Ronan, pinning three of her foes en route to the championship bout. Teammate Seattle Adams was second at 235 pounds, falling two.
Ronan had a pair of third-place finishes, with Leona Dodson Howe at 152 pounds pinning four, and Judasha Ellsworth collecting a pin in the third-place match at 235 pounds.
Ronan’s Jasmin Hakes was fifth at 145 pounds.
Polson had several placers with five trips to the podium. Ciri Nice placed third at 100 pounds, as she recorded a fall and a decision. Araeya Nelson was fourth at 107 pounds, recording four pins.
At 114 pounds, Sara Cross was fifth for Polson, collecting a technical fall, a pin and a decision. Teammate Innocent Arnold was sixth at 138 pounds, collecting two pins, as was Vanessa Wheeler at 152 pounds, recording a decision and a pin.
Mission-Charlo's Aubrey Sharbono won the 145-pound bracket. Sharbono notched three pins as she carved through the bracket with wins over opponents from Ronan, Frenchtown and Browning. Teammate Meadow Ragen was fifth at 165 pounds, after notching two pins and a decision in the fifth-place match.
