Ronan takes down Libby; Polson drops two

Ronan’s offense powered up in the second half against Libby en route to a 42-26 Northwest A victory on Saturday, Jan. 6. Maddy Illig led the Maidens with 13 points, while Zailee Hewankorn added eight.

Ronan led 13-11 after the first half, then the Maidens went on a 13-6 run in the third quarter and outscored Libby 16-9 in the final stanza.

The win improved Ronan to 3-5 on the year and 1-1 in Northwest A play.

Lady Pirates drop matchup against Browning

Browning held Polson to 10 points in the second half en route to a 59-30 Northwest A victory on Thursday, Jan. 4.

Polson trailed 15-11 after one quarter and 32-20 at halftime. Browning then posted a 14-4 run in the third quarter.

The Lady Pirates were led by Samantha Rensvold and Natalie Adams, each scoring eight points, while Hinkley Moss scored seven.

Polson fell to 0-2 in Northwest A play.

Hamilton led 24-21 at halftime, but Polson outscored the Lady Broncs 23-15 in the third quarter, for a 44-39 lead before the final stanza.

Julia Barnard led Polson with 19 points, while Natalie Adams and Hinkley Moss each added eight.

Maidens fall to Columbia Falls

The Maidens fell by just two points, 44-42, in a closely contested Northwest A matchup against Columbia Falls on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Ronan chipped away at a halftime deficit of 21-13 by going on a 13-6 run in the third quarter, but the WildKats held on against the Maidens.

Maddy Illig led Ronan with 13 points, while Zailee Hewankorn added eight.
