Salisbury pleads guilty to family member assault

| January 25, 2024 12:00 AM

A Polson man was committed to the Montana Department of Corrections for a total of 10 years, all suspended, on domestic abuse charges during a hearing Jan. 17 in Polson District Court. Shawn Allen Salisbury, 46, entered into a plea agreement to two of three felony counts of partner or family member assault (five years each, served consecutively with the DOC) during an earlier court appearance.

According to court records, on Dec. 26, 2022, Polson Police responded to a report of an assault at a Polson residence. The alleged victim had suffered a cut on her face after Salisbury allegedly threw a wallet at her. Charges from that matter were dismissed at sentencing as part of a plea agreement.

On Jan. 18, 2023, Polson Police responded to another domestic disturbance involving Salisbury, which resulted in the third charge of felony partner or family member assault. The first charge, to which Salisbury had already pleaded guilty to, occurred Sept. 15, 2022.

Charging documents show that each case involved the same victim.

Judge Molly Owen gave Salisbury credit for having already served 98 days in jail.
