Mission Valley starts Dillon Tourney with win, keeps going

Mission Valley scored nine runs in the final three innings for a 12-4 victory over the Broncs to open the Maybell Arthur Memorial Wood Bat Tournament on Friday, June 28.

Mission Valley had 14 hits, including two doubles from Zak Muzquiz. Dawson DuMont had two hits and an RBI, while Wyatt Wadsworth and Aiden Gfroerer each had three hits. Wadsworth drove in two runs while Gfroerer had a double. Holden Emerson also drove in two runs.

Wadsworth started the game on the mound, striking out five in four innings of work. Cash Atkison pitched the final two innings, striking out three.

Mission Valley outlasts Powell

Mission Valley got a home run and three RBI from Dawson DuMont as it defeated the Powell JV team 10-7 on Friday, June 28, during its second game of the Maybelle Arthur Memorial Wood Bat Tournament in Dillon.

The Mariners led 7-3 after three and a half innings and added three more runs in the seventh. Mission Valley finished with 13 hits. Cole Wadsworth went 4-for-5, while Holden Emerson, DuMont, Wyatt Wadsworth, and Zak Muzquiz had multi-hit games.

Wyatt Wadsworth had two doubles, while Aiden Gfroerer, DuMont, Amerson, and Muzquiz had doubles. Emerson finished with two RBI.

Mission Valley thumps Livingston

Mission Valley scored eight runs in the second and seven runs in the third inning for an 18-3 victory over Livingston in Saturday’s tourney action.

George Wyman pitched the entire game for the Mariners, striking out five.

Cody Haggard, Dawson DuMont, and Holden Emerson had tripled, while Cole Wadsworth had a double. Emerson and Dawson DuMont finished with three RBI, while Cole Wadsworth, Haggard, and Brayson DuMont had two RBI games.

Cubs down Mission Valley Mariners

Host Dillon defeated Mission Valley 8-5 in the Mariners’ fourth tournament game.

Mission Valley was behind 4-0 after three innings but scored a run in the fourth and three runs in the sixth. It wasn’t enough to keep up with Dillon, as the Cubs scored four runs in the final three innings.

Wyatt Wadsworth had two doubles and three RBI, while Dawson DuMont and Zak Muzquiz also drove in runs. Wadsworth finished the game 3-for-4 while Cole Wadsworth, DuMont, Landon Shoemake, and Aiden Gfroerer also had hits.

DuMont throws no-hitter against Idaho Falls

Mission Valley finished the Maybelle Arthur Memorial Wood Bat Tournament with an 11-0 victory over Idaho Falls on Sunday, June 30.

Dawson DuMont pitched a no-hitter, going five innings and striking out nine. He also helped his own cause by hitting a home run and driving in five runs.

Cody Haggard and Wyatt Wadsworth each had triples in the matchup as well.

Mission Valley improved its season record to 15-12.

Mariners split doubleheader against Mavs

Mission Valley split a doubleheader with the Missoula Mavericks in American Legion Baseball action on Tuesday, June 25, in Missoula.

Mission Valley was held to two hits in a 16-0 loss to Missoula in the first game.

The Mavericks scored nine runs in the second inning and five more in the third inning, putting together 14 hits as a team.

Zak Muzquiz and Landon Shoemake had the Mariners’ two hits in the loss.

In the second game, Mission Valley flipped the script and held Missoula to three hits. Dawson DuMont pitched the game for the Mariners, striking out 11 and scattering three hits.

DuMont also added a triple to his cause. Landon Pablo had a double and an RBI, while Zak Muzquiz also drove in a run. Cole Wadsworth had a multi-hit game for Mission Valley, which scored a run in the first and two runs in the fourth.
