County residents appointed to statewide board

| July 4, 2024 12:00 AM

Governor Greg Gianforte recently appointed two Lake County residents to a statewide board.

Kevin Askan, who works in the CSKT Tribal Preservation Office, and Elmo resident Duane Reid, the historic preservation officer for the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians, were both appointed to the Burial Preservation Board for terms that expire Sept. 1, 2027.

The board protects skeletal remains found throughout the state from disturbance and seeks the repatriation of remains and funerary objects improperly taken from unprotected burial sites.
