Elephants are following the wrong savior
Dear House Speaker Mike Johnston,
During your confirmation, I was encouraged to hear you reference the Bible. Then the bi-partisan passage of the Federal Budget Bill was a Hallelujah moment for me.
Now, however, you appear to govern by a different playbook, written by Donald Trump. What do you hope to gain by that? ("What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36)
Why would you and other Republicans go to New York to protest the trial of a man who was convicted on 34 felony counts by a jury of his peers? Do you truly endorse a man who paid off a porn star? Other politicians had career-ending repercussions from such behavior that you apparently excuse.
Donald Trump claims he lost the 2020 Presidential Election because it was "rigged," tried to prevent the Constitutional ratification of the election and the peaceful transfer of power by inciting a riot in the Capitol that caused property damage, suffering and death, and he resisted returning classified documents he had no business keeping – all Federal offenses.
Former President Trump forgot his Sunday School lesson about "loving your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31) and has divided the former "United" States of America. The current political climate pits Republicans against Democrats, making governing nearly impossible. God forbid that the so-called "Opposition" might have some good ideas or solutions to problems. ("A house divided against itself cannot stand." Mark 3:24)
Meanwhile, Democracy is in peril, while Sycophant Elephants follow the wrong Savior.
