Polson places third at home Splash Tournament

Polson defeated the C-Town Rebels 12-1 to place third at the Polson Splash Tournament, held July 5-7. The Lady Pirates held the Rebels to four hits in the victory, while Avery Starr had a home run and drove in two runs.

Polson scored five runs in the first inning and seven more in the second inning. In the circle, Avery Starr struck out two in two and one-third innings pitched.

Liz Cunningham also had a double, and Kailey Smith drove in a run.

On Sunday, during the tournament semifinals, Polson fell to the Hamilton Hot Shots 10-1. The Lady Pirates were held to four hits, as Mckenna Hanson smacked a double and Avery Starr drove in a run. Earlier that Sunday, the Lady Pirates reached the semis by defeating the Helena Vigilantes 12-0. McKenna Hanson went 2-for-2 with a double, while Sam Rensvold had a double and RBI.

Kailey Smith also went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI, while Sierra Perez drove in two runs, and Carli Maley and Ahri Rushing also drove in runs.

On Saturday in pool play, Polson played Lake County-based Mission Valley Thunder and won 3-2. In the tight game, Mission Valley took the 2-0 lead in the first two innings, and the Lady Pirates responded by tying the game up in the top of the fourth while adding a run in the fifth and sixth.

Mission Valley was held to one hit by Nevaeh Perez. Thunder pitcher Kailyn Marengo went six innings and struck out three.

Polson’s Sam Rensvold went five innings and struck out eight. At the plate, Polson’s Avery Starr had a home run with two RBI, while McKenna Hanson smacked a triple and Liz Cunningham had a double. Kailey Smith drove in a run as well.

Also, in pool play, Polson defeated the Missoula Riot 3-1. The Lady Pirates scored three runs in the first inning. Avery Starr kept Missoula off-kilter at the plate, striking out five and scattering four hits.

The Lady Pirates got a home run from Liz Cunningham and two RBI. Kailey Smith had a triple, and Starr smacked a double with an RBI.

Polson opened up pool play with a 19-0 victory over the Missoula Wildfire 19-0 on Friday. Sam Renvold threw two innings of no-hit ball, while the Lady Pirates scored five runs in the first inning and 14 runs in the second inning.

McKenna Hanson went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI, while Avery Starr went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and four RBI. Kailey Smith went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Opal Nash had a double and three RBI.

Mission Valley Thunder wins two

The Mission Valley Thunder won their Saturday pool play game over the Missoula Wildfire 19-0. Ally Luedtke went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, and four RBI. Neveah Perez went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Syerra Peterson had a home run and drove in two runs as well.

The Thunder won their Friday pool play game against the Missoula Rampage 6-3. Mission Valley led 5-1 after three innings, added another run in the fourth, and finished the game off with five runs in the fifth inning.

Ally Luedtke went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double. Kaydance Santos had a home run and drove in two runs. Shelby Taylor had a double and drove in a run, while Alecia Steele smacked a home run and drove in two runs. Madisyn Hanken had a triple as well.

In bracket play, however, the MV Thunder fell to the Kalispell Emeralds 8-2.
