Mission Valley B splits doubleheaders against Cubs, Lakers
The Mission Valley B Team split a doubleheader with the Dillon Cubs on Thursday, July 11, in American Legion baseball action in Dillon.
The Mariners were held to just two hits in a 15-4 loss in the first game but bounced back for 17 hits in a 25-8 victory in the second.
Paxson DuMont had a triple and drove in a run for the Mariners, who led 3-0 after the first inning. Dillon answered back with four runs in the second and 11 runs in the third. Mission Valley had six errors in the game.
Liam Wills had the Mariners other hit and drove in a run.
In the second game, Dillon went up 3-0 in the first inning, but Mission Valley scored seven runs in the second inning and seven more in the third for the 14-7 lead through three. The Mariners scored 11 runs in the fourth inning. Liam Wills went 4-for-5 with a double and triple and six RBI. Brayson DuMont, Luke Horner, Aiden Courville, Carson Emerson, and Treysin Sinclair had multi-hit games. Horner also had a double.
DuMont drove in three runs, while Horner and Ryan Lake drove in two runs.

Mission Valley wins one against Lakers
Mission Valley notched a 23-18 victory over the Kalispell Lakers 15U but fell to them 17-15 in the second game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader on Saturday, July 13. In the first game, the Lakers committed 11 errors in the loss.
Treysin Sinclair and Zach Newman each had doubles, while Sinclair finished with an RBI. Carson Emerson also drove in three runs, while Parker Shoemake went 2-for-4.
Mission Valley led 10-7 through three and 12-9 through four innings. Kalispell briefly took the 13-12 lead in the top of the fourth, but Mission Valley scored six runs in the fifth and five in the sixth for the victory.
In the second game, the Mariners posted a furious seventh-inning comeback that scored six runs, but Mission Valley fell 17-16. Mission Valley finished with 14 hits, including a 3-for-5 performance by Luke Horner, which drove in three runs. Liam Wills and Keaven Stinger each had two hits. Stinger finished with three RBI.
Caleb Gfroerer was 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Ryan Lake was 3-for-3. Wills had two RBI as well.
Mission Valley’s B team is now 15-12.
