John Adams, 80

| July 25, 2024 12:00 AM

John Adams, age 80 of Polson, passed away Tuesday, July 16.

He was born May 10, 1944, in Moorhead, Minn., to Leo and Helen Adams. He attended Moorhead High School before graduating from Wahpeton State School of Science.

He married Claudia Goodspeed on Nov. 18, 1972, and they raised three children, Ellen, Matthew and Candis.

John was a man of the outdoors. He spent much time during the fall and winter months hunting, and never failed to bring home at least one animal by the end of the season. He was also a common sight at the local gun ranges. He was a sure shot in both trap and skeet shooting, but also spent much time shooting with rifles, sighting in scopes and doing maintenance in preparation for hunting season. Even when not shooting, he spent much of his time outside and passed on his great appreciation of nature to his children and grandchildren.

John also had a great fondness for history. If he wasn’t outside, you could find him sitting in his favorite recliner with a dog on his lap, watching western movies or history documentaries.

In between shows he always found time to bring levity to the home. Quick with a joke, he never failed to make the people around him smile and laugh. This, along with his natural kindness, allowed him to make many long-lasting friendships and embedded him in the hearts of those around him.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia; children, Ellen (Phil), Matthew (Donni) and Candis (Bruce), along with grandchildren Carson (Elizabeth), Hope (Noah), Ryan and Kaleb.

Friends and family have already gathered for a celebration of life. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at lakefuneralhomeandcremation.com.

Arrangements are under the care of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
