Our board of directors is seeking members willing to serve in the annual officer-nomination process.

Lack of volunteers is the death knell for not-for-profit service organizations. Many hands make light work. Give us your hand. Volunteer.

We now finally have a full cooking staff, with most working two to three days a week. We are still looking for a nutrition director, full or part-time. The job offers flexible hours, all negotiable, including wage package, depending on experience and willingness to learn new tasks. Computers are easier than you think. We train.

Too hot? A/C broken? Fans not working? We have a small library, game boards, jigsaw puzzles and conversation at this, our Polson Senior Citizens Community Center. Bring a friend. Make a friend.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, join any week; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays (we always have chair reserved for you); Wednesday is game day – bring a game and a group of friends from 1-3 p.m.

The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.

A veteran’s representative visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for grab-n-go.

Upcoming main dishes include: beef hot dogs in a blanket, July 25; Birthday Dinner for Lunch, ham and scalloped potatoes, July 26 (preceded by an informational meeting at 11:30 a.m.); ham with wild rice soup, July 29; shepherd’s pie, July 30; and Salisbury steak, July 31.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 Third Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
