| July 25, 2024 12:00 AM

Elena Evans, who is running as an Independent for the Public Service Commission, will meet with voters from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Durham in Polson.

Evans, a geologist who served as executive director of the Montana Association of Conservation Districts, is currently serving as Missoula County’s environmental health manager.

According to the Montana Free Press, she was inspired to run for the seat after the commission voted to approve a 28% increase in rates for NorthWestern Energy’s residential electricity customers. More than 150 volunteers gathered 6,763 signatures to add her name to the November ballot.

She’s running against incumbent Jennifer Fielder to represent PSC District 4, which includes Lake County. Learn more about the candidate at elenaformontana.com.
