Mariners B Team wins one against Kalispell, sweeps Cranbrook

The Mission Valley Mariners B Team traveled to Kalispell on Friday, June 14, to split a doubleheader with Kalispell Gold 15U. In the first game, the Mariners notched 16 hits in a 15-9 victory, while in the second game, Kalispell scored 13 runs in the sixth inning for a 17-15 victory.

The doubleheader started with Mission Valley trailing 3-2 after three innings before eight runs in the top of the fourth. The Mariners then scored three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Justin Brown started the game on the mound and struck out three, while Eli Evenson pitched nearly three innings, striking out two. Aiden Courville closed out the final two outs of the game, striking out one.

Luke Horner and Zayne Newman had two doubles. Horner, Caleb Gfroerer, and Justin Brown each had two hits, while Zayne Newman and Aiden Courville each had three hits. Newman and Courville each had two RBIs in the matchup.

In the second game, Mission Valley led 15-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth before Kalispell’s 13-run rally. Aiden Courville struck out seven in the first four and two-thirds innings.

At the plate, Aiden Courville and Eli Evenson had four-hit games. Evenson had a home run with four RBI. Parker Shoemake and Caleb Gfroerer had two-hit games.

Justin Brown finished with two RBI, while Courville and Gfroerer each had doubles.

Friday, June 14, at Kalispell

Mission Valley sweeps Cranbrook

The Mission Valley Mariners B Team traveled to Cranbrook on Sunday, June 16, and swept the Bandits. In the first game, Paxson DuMont pitched a complete game, helping Mission Valley win 17-1. In the second game, the Mariners scored 12 hits, helping them win 18-7.

In the first game, DuMont allowed just four hits and struck out three in the victory. Cole Wadsworth hit two doubles and drove in three runs. Maddow Bird was 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double.

Leadoff hitter Luke Horner was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a triple, while Brayson DuMont also had two hits, as did Cole Wadsworth. Wadsworth had two doubles in the game.

Mission Valley scored eight runs in the third and fifth inning for the victory.

In the finale, Carson Emerson pitched the complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out two.

Cranbrook led 4-2 after the first inning, but Mission Valley responded with five runs in the second and two in the third. After a run in the fifth, the Mariners erupted for eight runs in the sixth.

Liam Wills had four RBI and a three-hit game, while Cole Wadsworth and Treysin Sinclair went 2-for-2. Emerson helped his own cause with two runs batted in, while Aiden Courville had two doubles and two RBI. Cole Wadsworth also had a double.

With the win, Mission Valley’s B team improved to 7-3.
