Wadsworth throws one-hitter against Kalispell

The Mission Valley A Team split a high-scoring doubleheader in Polson on Monday, June 17. In the first game, a comeback by the Mariners fell short in a 12-11 loss, but Mission Valley bounced back in the late game as Wyatt Wadsworth held Kalispell to one hit in a 17-0 victory.

In Kalispell’s 12-11 victory, the Lakers built a 12-6 lead through five and a half innings, but the Mariners clawed back with four runs in the sixth and five runs in the seventh.

Cole Wadsworth, Holden Emerson, Landon Shoemake, and Aiden Gfroerer each had multi-hit games. Cody Haggard had a triple and drove in two runs, while Shoemake had a triple and RBI, and Gfroerer had a double and an RBI.

In the second game, Wyatt Wadsworth struck out four and allowed just one hit. The Mariners had 12 hits, including home runs from Cody Haggard and Holden Emerson. Emerson finished with five RBI, while Haggard had three RBI. Shaedon Perry also had a double.

Kalispell committed six errors in the loss. Mission Valley is now 6-8 on the season.

Mission Valley splits doubleheader with Cranbrook

The Mission Valley Mariners A Team split a doubleheader against the Cranbrook Bandits on Saturday, June 15, in Polson. Cranbrook took the first game 7-4 after the Mariners committed six errors, but Mission Valley came back to take down the Bandits 10-7 in the nightcap.

In the first game, Mission Valley led 2-1 after four innings when Cranbrook scored two runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth. Cole Wadsworth started the game on the mound, going five innings, allowing just two earned runs and striking out seven.

He helped his own cause, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Cody Haggard was 2-for-4 with a double. Aiden Gfroerer also had a multi-hit game and two RBI, while Shaedon Perry had a double and drove in a run.

In the second game, Mission Valley got on the board early, having a 7-3 lead through three innings. They added two more runs in the fourth and an insurance run in the sixth. The Mariners finished with 14 hits and overcame four errors.

Landon Shoemake pitched six innings, allowing just three earned runs. Mission Valley got doubles for Aiden Gfroerer, Cody Haggard, Cole Wadsworth, Noah Agliano, and Wyatt Wadsworth, while Shaedon Perry peppered a triple.

Cole Wadsworth was 2-for-3, as was Cody Haggard, while Brayson DuMont also went 2-for-4. Noah Agliano had the best batting day going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Mission Valley is now 5-7 on the season.
