Dee Ann Hogge Crofoot, 76
Dee Ann Hogge Crofoot, 76, of Salmon, Idaho, passed away peacefully in the presence of family June 17, 2024, in Rexburg.
Dee Ann was born on Mother’s Day, May 9, 1948, in St. Ignatius to Robert and Elizabeth Hogge during a late spring snowstorm. She was the third of five children.
At a very young age she learned to work hard. She and her sisters had to run the dairy when their father was in a severe car wreck. Life wasn’t all work – she loved her time with her cousins and caused a lot of mischief (their ideas of course). She twirled the baton and was shocked when she made the cheerleading squad. She loved the Mission Mountains and the huckleberries.
She met Steve Crofoot, who she married June 25, 1965. In the early years of their marriage, they lived in St. Ignatius area until 1970 when they purchased a cattle ranch and moved to Salmon. They were blessed with four children, Sheldon, Ronda, Bo and Bart.
Dee Ann was deeply faithful and showed her faith by selflessly serving anyone in need. She had a passion for finding and linking family members together.
She grew a large garden and shared her produce with anyone she could find. She always put others before herself and worked from when she woke up to when she went to bed, including through the night during calving season.
In recent years, she could often be found loudly cheering for her grandkids in whatever activity they were participating in, or fishing through rain, snow or shine.
Dee Ann is survived by her four children, Sheldon Crofoot (Lori) of Idaho Falls, Ronda Peterson (Mike) of Rigby, Bo Crofoot (Jodie) of Sugar City and Bart Crofoot (Mindy) of Salmon; and her siblings, Beverly Kreipl (Boyd), Danny Hogge and George Hogge (Gloria) and her sister-in-law Sheila Crofoot Vallejo (Roy). She has 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Hogge, her sister, Betty Gamble, and her husband, Steve Crofoot.
The funeral services will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hwy. 28 building (91 ID-28 Salmon, Idaho). Family will receive visitors one hour prior to services in the relief society room. A viewing will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the Jones and Casey funeral home chapel (501 Lena St., Salmon, Idaho).
Interment is at the private family cemetery at 128 Sandy Creek Road.
