Mission Valley B Team trounces Libby
The Mission Valley B Team opened the week with a 14-7 victory over Libby’s B team in Polson on Tuesday, June 18.
Liam Wills started the game on the mound and struck out four in three innings of work, allowing no hits and giving up just one earned run. Wills also had two doubles in the game and drove in four runs.
Aiden Courville pitched three innings while also having two hits, a double, and driving in a run.
Mission Valley led 8-1 after three innings, and added three more in the top of the fifth. Libby responded with six runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Mariners pitching shut them out for the final four innings.
Zayne Newman drove in two runs, as did Carson Emerson.

Helena stumps Mission Valley
Helena scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and defeated Mission Valley 5-1 on Thursday, June 20. Maddox Bird had a triple, even as the Mariners were held to two hits and committed three errors.
Ryan Lake had Mission Valley’s other hit.

Mission Valley defeats Cranbrook
Mission Valley’s B team scored three runs in the sixth and seventh innings to defeat the Cranbrook Bandits 6-3 on Friday, June 21, in American Legion Baseball action.
Luke Horner pitched five innings, striking out two, while Justin Brown pitched the final one and two-thirds of the innings, striking out one.
Zayne Newman was 2-for-3 with a double, while Paxson DuMont drove in two runs and had a triple. Aiden Corville and Ryan Lake also drove in runs. Courville had a triple as did Liam Wills.

Mariners tall just short against NL Mountain
Mission Valley’s B team had a comeback that fell just short in a 12-9 loss to NL Mountain on Saturday, June 22. Liam Wills had a triple, double, and an RBI, while Paxson DuMont drove in two runs, as did Maddox Bird.
NL Mountain finished the game with 11 hits, while Mission Valley had six errors. NL Mountain led 8-1, but the Mariners had six runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull within 8-7.
NL Mountain then scored three runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh. Mission Valley scored two in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t close the game.
Luke Horner had a double in the matchup, while Cole Wadsworth also drove in two runs. Mission Valley’s B team is now 10-5 on the season.
