CSKT loses elder Louise Veronica Andrew

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) flew flags at half-mast through Saturday, March 9, in honor of Kootenai Elder Louise Veronica Andrew, who passed away March 6 at age 89.

Andrew was highly valued in the community as one of the last fluent speakers of the Ksanka language, and her contributions to the revitalization of the language were immeasurable, according leader and avid stick-game player.  

A rosary was held Friday, March 8, and the funeral service was 9 a.m. March 9 at the Lake Funeral Home in Polson. Burial followed at the Elmo Cemetery.
