Softball season underway for Maidens, Lady Pirates

Polson opens softball season with victory

Polson opened its 2024 campaign with an 8-0 victory over Flathead in just two innings of play due to inclement weather on Saturday, March 23.

Olivia Joe hit a two-run homer in the first inning, while Sierra Perez smacked a double down the third base line in the same stanza. Carli Maley had a solo homer in the second inning for the Lady Pirates.

Polson led 6-0 after one inning and finished with eight hits total. Samantha Rensvold held Kalispell to no hits in two innings.

Maley, Avery Starr, Kailey Smith, and Jore all had hits in the contest. Jore finished the game with three runs batted in.

Maidens almost comeback against Hamilton

Ronan made a furious comeback in their season opener against Hamilton, but they ultimately fell 11-10 on the road Saturday, March 23, in non-conference action.

The Lady Broncs jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first two innings, but the Maidens scored three runs in the top of the third.

Ronan was trailing 11-4 six innings in but battled back to score six runs on three hits. A Hamilton error scored two runs, while KaNana Couture drove in one run, Hanna Lytton batted in two runs and Ernistine Tapia-Torosian tripled to score another run.

The Maidens finished the game with seven hits, while Hamilton had nine. Nikki Kendall pitched for Ronan, going all six innings and striking out six. At the plate, Kendall drove in three runs.

Kailyn Marengo had two hits, while Couture finished the game with multiple hits as well.
