Local softball teams compete at Bette Paskey Tourney

Ronan sweeps Browning

A double-header produced 38 runs for Ronan as they defeated Browning 17-0 and 21-2 in Northwestern A Conference action last Thursday, April 25.

In the first game, Nikki Kendal pitched a three-inning no-hitter while striking out six and also notching two hits and two RBI. Kailyn Marengo also had two hits and two RBI while Adrienne Crockett had three hits, a double and drove in four runs. Mira Corum also drove in two runs, and Neveah Perez also brought home a run.

Ronan finished with 11 hits in the game and scored 10 runs in the first inning.

In the nightcap, Ronan won 21-2 and allowed no hits again. Nevaeh Perez pitched three innings and struck out five. Nikki Kendall had three hits and three RBI while Perez also had a hit and three RBI.

Raela Bartel had two hits, a double and four RBI, while Mira Corum, Kailyn Marengo and Shelby Taylor each drove in two runs.

Ronan struggles against Havre

Ronan made a furious comeback but fell to Havre in the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown on Friday, April 26.

Nikki Kendall struck out 12 Havre batters, but the Blue Ponies took a 3-0 lead in the first three innings and scored three more in the fifth and another in the sixth.

Both teams finished with five hits.

Ronan scored two runs in the fifth and sixth. Kaydnce Santos had two hits including a two-run home run. Ally Luedtke also had a triple and drove in a run. Ronan had five errors in the game.

Marengo homers in Ronan victory

Kailyn Marengo homered and drove in three runs to help lift Ronan past Florence 5-2 at the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown on Saturday, April 27.

Ronan led 3-1 after three innings and added a run in the fourth and fifth.

Nikki Kendall held Florence to two hits while striking out four. Ally Luedtke had three hits, while Nevaeh Perez also drove in a run.

The win improved Ronan’s season record to 9-4.

Polson falls to Frenchtown

Carli Maley hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to cut into Frenchtown’s lead but the Lady Pirates fell to the Broncs 8-5 in softball action on Tuesday, April 23.

Frenchtown struck first with two runs in the bottom of the third, but Polson answered back with a run in the top of the fourth to make it 2-1. The Broncs would again score two runs in the fifth to go up 4-1 and the Lady Pirates would again answer back with a run in the sixth.

The key inning, however, was the bottom of the sixth when Frenchtown notched four runs to take a strong 8-2 lead. Polson was limited to four hits in the matchup, two from Mckenna Hansen, the homer from Maley and another hit from Olivia Jore. Jore and Sierra Perez also drove home Polson runs.

The home run tied Maley for fourth place with Josie Caye on the Lady Pirates’ all-time career home run list. Pitcher Samantha Rensvold went four innings, striking out four.

Frenchtown had eight hits in the matchup and three home runs.

Lady Pirates get past Whitefish

Polson followed up with eight runs in the first inning with 10 runs in the second en route to a 23-4 Northwestern A victory over Whitefish on Thursday, April 25. The Lady Pirates did all this work on seven hits, including a two-hit performance by Samantha Rensvold and JJ Pierre.

Rensvold, who is normally in the pitcher’s circle, drove in three runs as did Pierre. Rensvold also had a double, while Opal Nash also smacked a double.

Whitefish finished the game with two hits, as Madison Turner, McKenna Hanson and Emma Smith combined in three innings of work in the circle. Whitefish committed five errors in the game. The Lady Bulldogs also hit four batters and walked 16.

Polson survives Florence

Florence built an 11-8 lead through three innings, but Polson scored three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth for the 14-11 victory at the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown last Friday. Avery Starr pitched five and one-third innings for the Lady Pirates, striking out 10 along the way.

Carli Maley had a home run and finished the game with two hits and three RBI. McKenna Hanson, Kailey Smith, Olivia Jore and Sierra Perez each drove in two runs. Jore also had a home run.

Polson finished with 17 hits including three hits by Kailey Smith and Sierra Perez while Samantha Rensvold, Maley, Starr, and Jore had two hits. Perez finished with three hits.

Lady Pirates fall to Billings Central

Carli Maley homered but Polson was held to just two hits in a 9-1 loss to Billings Central at the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown on Friday, April 26.

Maley had both of Polson’s hits while Billings Central led 3-0 after two innings and then scored six runs in the third. Billings-Central finished with nine hits in the game.

Polson wins 10th game of season

Polson finished up its appearance at the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown on Saturday, April 27 with an 8-1 victory over Fergus.

Samantha Rensvold held Fergus to just one hit in the three-inning matchup, while striking out three. Carli Maley notched two hits, including a double. Sierra Perez and Olivia Jore each drove in two runs.

Polson scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second. It finished with four hits as a team.

The Lady Pirates improved to 10-3 on the year.

MAC hands Florence first loss of season

In terms of a big win, MAC’s 12-11 victory over Florence could be considered just that as they downed the previous 9-0 softball power on Tuesday, April 23. Izzy Evans did a little bit of everything in the win, hitting a homer, collecting two hits, driving in three runs and pitching seven innings while striking out seven.

MAC amassed a 7-0 lead through three innings before Florence finally struck with three runs in the top of the fourth. The Falcons trailed 9-5 in the top of the sixth when they had a six-run rally to go up 11-9. MAC responded with a run in the sixth and two more in the bottom of the seventh.

Both teams combined for 25 hits, including 13 by MAC but both teams also had a total of 13 errors.

Maia Christopher had three hits in the game and a home run while driving in three runs. Alecia Steele swatted two hits and an RBI, while Kieran Incashola also had two hits, a double and an RBI. GG Hawk batted leadoff and had a double and RBI as well.

The win dropped Florence to 9-1 and was MAC’s seventh win of the season. Evans improved to 6-2 in the pitching circle.

At St. Ignatius

MAC thumps Eureka

Mission-Arlee-Charlo broke out the bats in a 15-0 league victory over Eureka on Wednesday, April 24. Izzy Evans held the Lady Lions to just one hit, picking up her seventh pitching victory over the season.

MAC scored seven runs in the first, six in the second and two in the third to shorten the game. The Bulldogs finished with 10 hits, including two from Alecia Steele and another two from Madisyn Hanken.

Maizey McDonald blasted a home run to drive in four runs, while Maia Christopher, Evans, Steele and Hanken swatted doubles. Evans helped her own cause with three RBI, while GG Hawk, Steele and Kieran Incashola each drove in a run. Hanken had two RBI. 

MAC improved to 5-0 in league play and 8-3 overall with the win.

Mission-Arlee-Charlo defeats Butte Central

MAC scored early and often in a 16-1 victory over Butte Central in the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown on Friday, April 26.

GG Hawl had three hits, including a home run and three RBI, while Izzy Evans notched two home runs and four RBI in the win. Kieran Incashola pitched three innings for the Lady Bulldogs, holding Butte Central to just four hits while MAC had 14.

MAC survives Hamilton

Mission-Arlee-Charlo fended off a three-run rally by Hamilton in the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown on Friday, April 26, picking up a 6-5 victory.

GG Hawk hit a home run as did Maizey McDonald. McDonald finished with three RBI in the game. Jada Domebo pitched the final four innings of the game for MAC, striking out five.

MAC topples Corvallis

The bats worked up and down the lineup for Mission-Arlee-Charlo, which defeated Corvallis 16-7 at the Bette Paskey Memorial Tournament in Frenchtown on Saturday, April 26.

MAC led 10-7 after three innings and posted a six-run rally in the fourth to help force an early game to the matchup. MAC finished with 11 hits, including multiple hits from GG Hawk, Maia Christopher, Izzy Evans and Amelia Cronk.

Christopher tripled and drove in two runs, while Evans doubles and drove in three runs. Catcher Amelia Cronk finished the game with three RBI while Avia Lee and Jada Domebo had two RBI.

Domebo pitched for three innings, striking out five.
