Polson boys defeat Ronan, girls tie in tennis

The Polson boys were led by Lachlan Sloan in defeating Ronan 4-1, while the Polson and Ronan girls tied 3-3 in Northwest A Conference play on Thursday, May 2.

In boys’ action, Lachlan Sloan won his No. 1 singles matchup against Ronan’s Rowan Parks 6-2, 6-4. Gordon Stewart of Ronan won the Chief’s lone matchup of the day, defeating No. 2 Polson single Durai Mahkuk 6-3, 6-0. Marcus Lucas won his No. 3 matchup, and the doubles team of Truman Sawyer and Noah Flaten won their matchup as well for Polson.

The Polson and Ronan girls battled closely and ended in a draw. Polson’s No. 1 singles player Mackenzie Bartel won her matchup against Ronan’s Rowan Parks 6-2, 6-4. Ronan’s No. 2 singles player Colette Onsager won her matchup 6-2, 6-3, while Polson’s No. 3 player, Faith Combs won a battle 7-6 (6), 7-5.

In doubles action, Polson No. 1 doubles team Karly Smith and Bailey Lemm defeated Ronan’s Mady Eraw and Kamryn Brown 6-4, 6-3. Ronan’s Addison Crawford and Chevy Reum were victorious in No. 2 doubles, as was No. 3 Ronan doubles team of Lilanna Brown and Yanella Tillman.

Polson boys and girls snag dual win against Libby

The Polson boys and girls tennis teams battled with Libby and pulled out equal 4-3 victories against the Loggers. In boys’ action, Polson’s double teams helped lift the Pirates to victory on Tuesday, April 30.

No. 3 singles player Strider Gage was the lone winner in singles action for the Pirates, but Polson swept the doubles action. No. 1 doubles team of Tate Barentsen and Otto Lund defeated Libby’s Alderic Martineau and Dylan Warner 6-0, 6-1. No. 2 doubles team of Brock Henricksen and Ruger Ellis, along with No. 3 doubles team of Max Vincent and Teague McElwee were also victorious.

On the girls’ side, Polson won three singles matchups and the No. 1 doubles matchup for the victory. No. 2 singles player Vivian Grainey defeated Libby’s Maggie Fentozzi 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, while No. 3 singles player Hinkley Moss was also a winner.

Katie Smith and Julia Bernard won the No. 1 doubles matchup against Libby’s Allie Thorstenson and Ellie Andreessen 7-6 (7-4) 6-3.

Doubles teams lift Polson boys past Hamilton

Polson’s double team was solid against as the boys swept their doubles matchups against Hamilton in a 4-3 victory on Tuesday, April 30.

No. 2 singles player Branson Moss posted the lone singles win for Polson, defeating Carden Nelson 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. In doubles action, Brock Henricksen and Ruger Ellis won the No. 1 doubles matchup over Hamilton’s Finn Dufresne and Jason Chaplain 6-3, 6-2. Otto Lund and Tate Barentsen were victorious at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles Taegen Gage and Teague McElwee completed the sweep.

Polson girls lost to Hamilton 6-1, with No. 3 singles player Karly Smith posting the lone Lady Pirates victory 7-5 over Hamilton’s Sam Gerey.
