Polson Seniors: Season of no left turns begins
Welcome to the “No left turn without a light or a four-way stop” traffic season. If you drive around Polson you will know. Highway construction season has begun if you hadn’t noticed, but the streets don’t have a season.
Mother’s Day is the May 12 – the busiest for the pizza parlors.
We provide ride services for elderly and disabled persons in the Polson area for a $5 charge ($1 for additional stops). Call in the day before or earlier for a ride to groceries, bank, doctor, haircut, doctor etc. Time slots from 8-10 a.m. or 12:30-3 p.m. Early reservations are highly recommended.
Two positions are available with the Nutrition Program, either full or part time: nutrition director with food service skills and/or another full-time head cook.
Wednesday is game day at 12:30 p.m. Some game boards are available or bring your own board game and a friend or teach someone new how to play!
Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays.
The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.
A veteran’s representative visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month. Memory Café, a dementia support group, meets from 1-3 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month for snacks and fun.
Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for grab-n-go.
Upcoming main dishes include hamburger stroganoff, May 9; blueberry strata with sausage links, May 10; chili with cornbread, May 13; barbecued chicken, May 14; pork chops, May 15; chicken enchiladas, May 16; and pizza, May 17.
