Polson survives Ronan’s offensive onslaught

Nevaeh Perez hit two home runs and Kailyn Marengo also hit a round-tripper, but despite their push, Ronan fell to Polson 10-6 in Northwest A Conference action on Thursday, May 2. It was Senior Night for the Lady Pirates.

The game was a battle, with Ronan holding a 4-1 lead after two and a half innings. The Lady Pirates rallied for four runs in the bottom of the third and then two more in the fourth for the 7-4 lead. Ronan cut that lead to 7-6 with two runs in the fifth.

The Pirates’ three-run sixth inning gave them a commanding lead. Polson pitcher Samantha Rensvold finished out the final six innings of play, striking out six. Ronan’s pitcher, Nikki Kendall went six innings and struck out nine.

Emma Smith drove in two runs for the Pirates and Carli Maley had two hits and an RBI. Rensvold also had two hits at the plate.

For Ronan, Kaydynce Santos had two hits and a double while Perez drove in five RBI total.

Polson improved to 11-4 with the win while Ronan fell to 9-5 overall.

Columbia Falls downs Polson

Columbia Falls scored eight runs in the fifth inning and defeated Polson 12-2 in Northwest A Conference softball action on Tuesday, April 30.

The Wildkats were up 4-2 in a tight contest heading into the bottom of the fifth before their offensive outburst. Columbia Falls finished with 11 hits in the game while Polson had five hits.

McKenna Hanson went 2-for-3 in the game, while starting Lady Pirates’ pitcher Samantha Rensvold also drove in two runs.

Evans powers MAC past Eureka

Izzy Evans pitched seven innings and struck out six, while also driving in three runs in an 11-4 league victory over Eureka on Thursday, May 2.

MAC led the game 6-2 after three innings and after Eureka cut it to three in the fourth, MAC added two more runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

MAC finished with nine hits, including a 3-for-4 performance by Izzy Evans and a 2-4 performance by Madisyn Hanken that resulted in three RBI. Evans finished with two doubles and a triple in the matchup.

Jore home run lifts Polson past Libby

Polson took the lead late in the game, thanks to an Olivia Jore home run in the top of the sixth en route to a 9-8 victory over Libby in Northwest A Conference softball action on Saturday, May 4, in Libby.

The Lady Pirates were leading the game 8-5 through three and a half innings of play, but Libby had a three-run rally in the fourth to tie things up before Jore’s game-breaking home run. It was Jore's sixth home run of the season.

Polson starting pitcher Samantha Rensvold went seven innings and struck out eight, giving up three earned runs. Polson had five errors in the contest.

Rensvold helped her own cause, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jore also finished the game with multiple hits.

Polson improved to 12-4 on the season with the victory.

MAC defeats Troy

MAC scored two runs in the fifth to go ahead of Troy and another three in the sixth to get the 5-1 league win in softball action on Saturday, May 4 at home.

Izzy Evans pitched the entire game for the Lady Bulldogs, scattering four hits and striking out nine. Troy led 1-0 for four and a half innings before MAC got on the board. MAC finished with six hits, including a 2-for-3 performance by Maia Christopher with an RBI.

Evans also drove in a run to help her own cause and Amelia Cronk posted a hit and drove in a run.

MAC improved their record to 13-3 on the year.
