Durglo tops at ABC Meet
Ronan’s Connor Durglo placed first in the triple jump (43-0) while Polson runners looked strong in the distance races during the 2024 Thomas-Nelson ABC Meet on Saturday, May 11 in Polson.
David DiGiallonardo placed third in the 800-meter run (2:01.70) and third in the 1,600-meter run (4:33.92) for Polson. In the 3,200-meter run, Jackson Bontadelli was second (10:19.95) and Ronan’s Devon BigMedicine was fourth (10:49.07).
Polson’s Astin Brown was second in the shot put (52-11) and fourth in the discus (145-09.
Durglo also placed fourth in the long jump (20-01) for Ronan. In the 4x400 relay, Polson’s team of Jesse Vail, Gus Hertz, Anthony Lichtenberg and DiGiallonardo were fifth with a time of 3:38.32.
On the girls’ side, Polson’s Morgan Delaney placed fourth in the 1,600-meter race, while Amelia Stene was sixth in the 100-meter run.
Ronan’s 4x400 team of Arianna Sepeda, Annie Adams, Lauryn Buhr and Sarah Templer took fifth (4:40.45). Polson’s team of Stene, Adison Carlson, Keira Owen and Delaney took sixth (4:43.66).
Ronan’s Zailee Hewankorn was fourth in the shot put (35-01).
Gonzalez and Umphrey shine at District 7B
Mission’s Rhain Gonzalez had a banner day at the District 7B Track Meet in Libby on Saturday, May 11. Gonzalez won the long jump (19-11), placed fourth in the high jump (5-6) and third in the javelin (130-03).
Isaac Umphrey was second in the 400 (53.99), second in the long jump (18-4.5) and second in the triple jump (39.2.5).
Harlon Leishman placed second in the 1,600-meter run (4:56.17) and third in the 3,200-meter run (11:33.05).
Arlee finds gold at district meet
Arlee had three champions at the 13C District Track Meet on Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, in Missoula.
On the girls’ side, Adalyn Jacobson won the javelin (114-9.5) while Karma Tibbetts won the pole vault (8-0). On the boys’ side, Matthew Johnson was a champion in the high jump (6-0).
Further scoring points for the Arlee girls was Jacobson, who placed third in the shot put (26-10) and Tibbetts, who was fourth in the triple jump (29-11). Anola Naugle was fourth in the 800 (2:36) and the Arlee 4x100 (54.70).
On the boys’ side, Jake Knoll was second in the shot put (43-1) and second in the discus (124-3.75).
Trevor Van Maanen was fifth in the 800-meter run (2:27.66). Bridger Smith was fifth in the shot put (40-3.75) and Eli O’Neill was third in the javelin (136-5.5)
Kendall O’Neill placed fifth in the long jump (19-7) and fourth in the high jump (5-8).
Charlo wins girls and boys district titles
Charlo won district championships in both the boys’ and girls’ field events at the 14C District Meet in Missoula on Friday and Saturday, May 10-11.
On the boys’ side, Hayden Hollow won the 400 (53.28), the pole vault (10-6) and the 800 (2:00.06), while Hayden Smith won the 1,600 (4:38.1) and the 3,200-meter run (10:40.28). In the throws, Jacob Tomlin was first in the shot put (46-4) and javelin (149-01). Ryan Sharbono was first in the discus (122-0).
For Two Eagle, Jabez Madplume was second in the 100-meter run (11.95) and the 200 (24.26). His teammate, Malacye Piapot, was third in the 100 (12.35). Madplume was also second in the 400-meter run (53.47), while Charlo’s Tayre Brown was fourth (55.72), and Hayden Smith was fifth (56.49).
Charlo’s Hayden Smith was second in the 800 (2:02.41) and Two Eagle's Jamian Adams was fifth in the 1,600-meter run (5:32.78). Jacob Tomlin added to his trophy case for Charlo, taking third in the 110-meter hurdles (18.00).
Charlo won the 4x100 (47.38) and the 4x400 (3:51). Charlo’s Ryan Sharbono was third in the shot put (41-8.5)
The Vikings continued to dominate the throws as Tomlin was second in the discus (109-02), Tasker Brown was third (103-06), and Connor Nittinger was fourth (103). Nittinger was also fourth in the javelin (140-1.5).
In the triple jump, Tasker Brown was third (37-1), and Josiah Long was fourth (35-3). Brown was also third in the triple jump (37-1), and Josiah Long was fourth (35-3).
Jabez Madplume was third in the long jump (18-3) for Two Eagle and teammate Malacye Piapot was fourth (18-2).
On the girls’ side, Charlo’s Aida Cota was first in the 400-meter run (1:05.06), the 800 (2:33.39) and the discus (102-06). In the running events, Elsie Deter was first for Charlo in the 1,600-meter run (6:27.35) and the 3,200-meter run (15:04.92). Shonlea Matt placed first for the Lady Vikings in the shot put (30-11).
Leah Cahoon won the high jump (4-7) and the pole vault (6-6). Abbigail Wagner rounded out Charlo’s winners, placing first in the triple jump (27-6).
For Two Eagle, Christine Tenas won the 100-meter run (13.72) while teammate Jodessa McGreevey was third (14.32) and Charlo’s Avery Coleman was fourth (14.39). McGreevey was also fifth in the 200-meter run (30.28), fifth in the 400 (1:11.26) and second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.04). Elsie Detert was also third for Charlo in the 800-meter run (2:50.78).
Two Eagle’s Layla Tenas was second in the javelin (88-4.5) while Charlo’s Shonlea Matt was fourth in the javelin (80-05).
In the shot put, Olivia Carnell was second (28-11.5) and Avery Coleman was third for Charlo (28-11). Carnell was also fourth in the discus (88-06) and Shonlea Matt was fourth in the javelin (80-05).
Emma SpottedEagle was fourth for Two Eagle in the long jump (12-10).
Charlo won the 4x100-meter relay (55.95) and the 4x400 relay (4:41).
