Ronan posts four wins at softball invite

In a hard-fought battle, Ronan opened play last Friday at the LaVerne Combo Softball Invite in Butte by scoring four unanswered runs in a 4-2 victory over Dawson County. Ronan finished with five hits, including doubles by Kailyn Marengo and Nikki Kendall.

Dawson County led 1-0 after three innings before Ronan tied it up in the fourth, took the lead with two runs in the fifth, and added an insurance run in the sixth. The Maidens also overcame four errors in the victory.

Pitcher Kendall struck out 10 and scattered four hits in the victory.

Also Friday, the offense came fast and furious for Ronan, which tallied 18 hits in a 21-2 victory over Hardin. Nearly everyone in the lineup had hits for the Maidens.

Ally Luedtke, Kaylee Kelch and Kailyn Marengo each hit home runs, while Brianna Woll had a double and Marengo had a double.

Nikki Kendall was 4-for-4 with two RBI, while Neveah Perez was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Kayle Kelch also had three hits and finished with six RBI, while Marengo, Luedtke, Ernestine Tapia-Torosian, and Kelch had multi-hit games. Tapia-Torosian had multiple RBIs as well.

On Saturday, Ronan had another big offensive day, smacking 14 hits and defeating Park 14-3.

Nikki Kendall struck out eight for the Maidens and held Park to three hits. Ronan scored three runs in the first and six in the second to take a commanding lead.

Kendall also had a triple and a home run and finished with four RBI, while Kailyn Marengo had two doubles and three RBI. Mia Corum was 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Leadoff hitter Ally Luedtke was 3-for-4, while Neveah Perez had two hits, as did Ernestine Tapia-Torosian.

Ronan got home runs from Kaydnce Santos, Nikki Kendall and Neveah Perez in Saturday’s 14-2 victory over Laurel.

Kendall was in the circle for the Maidens and held Laurel to just three hits while striking out eight. Perez finished with four RBI, while Kendall drove in two runs.

Santos, Perez and Kailyn Marengo each had two hits in the matchup. Marengo had two doubles and Brianna Woll and Santos had doubles as well.

Ronan improved to 14-6 on the season with the victory.

Columbia Falls downs Ronan

Nikki Kendall put up a solid pitching performance, but Ronan fell to Columbia Falls 4-1 in Northwestern A Conference action on Tuesday, May 7, in Columbia Falls.

Ronan was limited to four hits and one run in the first inning. Kendall pitched all six innings, allowing just five hits and one earned run while striking out five.

Ally Luedtke, Kaydnce Santos, Neveah Perez, and Kailyn Marengo had Ronan’s hits, while Luedtke and Santos had doubles in the matchup.

Ronan blasts Whitefish

Ronan had 15 hits and downed Whitefish 18-0 in Northwestern A Conference softball action on Thursday, May 9. In a game that lasted three innings, Maidens pitcher Morgan Simpson allowed just one hit and struck out two.

Ally Luedtke, Kaydnce Santos and Nikki Kendall each had three hits. Santos and Neveah Perez had doubles, while Kendall hit a home run and finished with five RBI.

Perez drove in three runs, while Ally Luedtke, Santos, and Simpson each drove in two runs. Perez and Mia Corum also had multi-hit games in the victory.
