Polson bowed out of the Montana State Baseball Tournament in Missoula on Thursday and Friday, May 16-17, with two losses.

Polson opened up the tournament with a 12-6 loss to Butte on Thursday, and then fell 8-7 in a nail-biter to Columbia Falls on Friday.

Against Butte, Polson fell behind 10-4 through three innings. Espn Fisher, Cole Wadsworth and George Wyman all pitched for the Pirates in the loss. Five Butte batters struck out, but the team collected 11 hits, and Polson committed four errors.

Polson had eight hits, including Cody Haggard, Fisher, and Landon Shoemake triples. Fisher drove home two runs, while Cole Wadsworth, Shoemake, and Aiden Gfroerer also drove in runs.

On Friday, the Wildcats opened a 2-0 lead in the first two innings. Polson tied things up in the fourth and took a 6-2 lead in the fifth. Columbia Falls responded with six runs in the bottom of the frame. While the Pirates did score a run in the seventh, they couldn’t tie the game, and the loss ended their season.

Fisher was 3-for-4 in the matchup, with a double and a triple to accompany three RBI. Wyatt Wadsworth also had three hits and two triples.

The front end of the lineup was more productive, however, and the Pirates finished with eight hits compared to 11 hits for Columbia Falls.

For the second straight state game, Polson committed four errors. The Pirates finished the season 14-6.
