Sandpiper announces scholarship winners

The Sandpiper Art Gallery and Gifts in Polson recently awarded four scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000 each to students graduating from Ronan and Two Eagle River high schools, and to students attending Salish Kootenai College in Pablo.

Danny Obrecht, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, is currently majoring in Digital Arts and Design at SKC. He has earned two Google certifications, one in marketing and another in design.

Obrecht is in the process of starting a business that includes logo, graphic and web design and  recently created logos for a local business.

Sydney Taylor is a member of the Ronan High School graduating class of 2024. She has been

accepted at Montana State University into the bachelor’s program in art and art education with a K-12 emphasis. She has been taking art classes for four years in Ronan, and has participated in band, 4-H and the National Honor Society.

Megan Hamilton is currently majoring in fine arts at Salish Kootenai College and has been accepted as an intern in the Art Department. She assisted in painting a mural at Cal Poly College in July 2022, and has published poetry. Upon graduation, she plans to enroll in an institution offering a bachelor’s in fine arts.

Beva Rae Finley is a member of the Two Eagle River High School graduating class of 2024 and has been accepted at Salish Kootenai College where she intends to major in fine arts/tribal historic preservation. She received awards in photography and poetry from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in 2023 and is taking steps to one day land her dream job, working for National Geographic.

All scholarship honorees will receive a complementary student membership at Sandpiper Art Gallery and Gifts, are invited to display their artwork at the gallery, and to participate in the August Courthouse Art Festival.
