Eight place at Class A Track & Field Championships

Lake County athletes placed in eight different events at the MHSA Class A-B State Track and Field Championships at the Laurel Sports Complex, which took place from May 23-May 25.

Polson junior Astin Brown made the podium in the shot put, placing third with a heave of 53-00. In the long jump, senior Ashten Nelson placed fifth for the Pirates in the long jump, posting a mark of 21-8.25, the best of his career.

Sophomore David DiGiallonardo took eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.19, while freshman Jackson Bontadelli also had a good performance in a long race, placing seventh in the 3,200-meter run (10:10.60), the best time of his career.

Ronan junior Connor Durglo was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 41-11.75.

On the girls’ side, freshman Morgan Delaney was fourth in the 3,200-meter run (11:36.87) and sixth in the 1,600-meter run (5:23.30).

In the shorter races, freshman Amelia Stene was fifth in the 100-meter run for the Lady Pirates.

The Corvallis boys won the state team title, outpacing second-place Columbia Falls 68.8 to 67. Polson was 15th.

On the girls' side, the Corvallis girls were also winners, pushing past second-place Whitefish 92.5-77.5. Polson was 16th.

In the boys MHSA Class B Track and Field Championships in Laurel, Kendall O’Neill from Arlee made the podium, placing fifth in the long jump with a mark of 20-2.25.

Charlo comes in ninth at State

At the MHSA Class C Track and Field Championships, held May 24-25 in Great Falls, Charlo garnered two third-place finishes and two fourth-place finishes as the boys placed ninth as a team.

Sophomore Ryan Sharbono was third in the discus, posting a mark of 140-7. In the shot put, Jacob Tomlin posted a personal best in his final competition as a senior, placing third with a heave of 48-9.5.

In the 800-meter run, Charlo’s Hayden Hollow was fourth with a time of 1:59.40, the best time of the senior’s career.

In the 3,200-meter run, Hayden Smith also posted his career-best as a senior, placing fourth with a time of 10:15.98. He also placed eighth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:51.05.
