Reception: "Talk the Talk: Then and Now – Student Photographs 2001-2024" – 5-7 p.m. May 30 at the Three Woodcocks Gallery at Salish Kootenai College; exhibit, on display through Aug. 30, celebrates the photography of Two Eagle River and SKC students, under the tutelage of master photographer David Spear.

Gardening Workshop – 5:30-8 p.m. May 31 at the MSU Extension Office in Ronan; learn, plant and grow with expert guidance during this free workshop.

Pancake Breakfast – 8:30-11 a.m. June 1 at the historic Big Arm School; the kitchen crew whips up a breakfast of pancakes, scrambled egg, sausage, coffee and juice. The meal is free, but donations help the Big Arm Association maintain the community’s historic schoolhouse.

Ronan High School Food Truck and Cornhole Tournament – 4-8 p.m. June 1 in front of the Ronan Co-op Brewery on Fourth Ave.

Flathead Lake Rock-Skipping Championships – 1-2:30 p.m. June 2 at The Cove in Polson; annual contest raises money for the Ken Avison Scholarship. Ken, who owned the Cove with his sons for 17 years, was a magician, school administrator and businessman. Following the event on the shore of the Flathead River, contestants return to the Cove for pizza and pop.

Mission Valley Chainsaw Carving Rendezvous – June 6-9 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Ronan; 12 talented artists from across United States and beyond carve works to be auctioned off at 1 p.m. Sunday. They’ll also complete daily “quick carves,” with some available for auction on Friday evening at 6 p.m. A quilt show is also on tap. Call 406-261-4897 for details.

Friends of the Library Book Sale – 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 6 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 7 in the Community Room of the North Lake County Library in Polson; the sale features a wide selection of assorted titles and many genres, including DVDs and audiobooks. Proceeds support the library’s educational programs, resources, and services available to all in the community.

Open Mic and Jam – 7 p.m. Fridays at the Western Montana Musicians Co-op, Ronan; also on tap is a weekly Community Jam at 7 p.m. Saturdays. The cooperative is located in the Red Poppy Building, 1 Eisenhower St. SW in Ronan. Learn more at www.mtmusic.org.

Kiwanis – First Thursday of the month, noon at Kwataqnuk Resort, and third Thursday of the month, 5:30 p.m. at Bunkers, Polson Bay Golf Course; Kiwanis is an international organization dedicated to improving the world one child, one community at a time. Meetings are open to the public.

Climate Café – 9-11 a.m. on the third Friday of every month at the Flathead Lakers office in Polson; partake in a thoughtful conversation about climate change.

Cheerful Heart Cancer Support Group – noon-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month in the chapel at St. Joseph Medical Center; anyone affected by cancer is invited to participate in this group led by Matthew Connally of the Ronan/Polson Nazarene Church. Mission Valley Neurodegenerative Disease Support Group – 7 p.m. June 5 at the Cottonwood Conference Room in St. Luke Community Healthcare in Ronan; new group aims to provide an opportunity for individuals and their loved ones to connect with others who are also living with PD, MS or ALS.
