Mission defeats Superior for district play-in; earns divisional berth
The Lady Bulldogs lived to play another day, downing Superior 19-25, 24-26, 25-17, 27-25, 15-9 in the Western 7B District Play-In game on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The win moved Mission into the full district tournament, held in Thompson Falls, and ended Superior’s season.
Alecia Steele had 13 kills and 15 digs, both team highs, while Madison Incashola had 12 digs and two blocks.
Cora Matt and Maia Christopher also powered the Lady Bulldog offense with nine kills apiece.
Amelia Cronk played excellent defense with nine digs and four aces while also dishing out 28 assists. Brooke Tanner had four aces, and Kensey Burke had eight digs.
Mission advanced to the next round of the district tournament, where it faced and fell to Eureka 25-18, 25-23, 25-17 on Saturday, Nov. 2, despite 13 kills from Steele.
Incashola had 11 digs, while Jada Domebo added eight. Domebo had nine assists and Cronk had nine assists to go along with six digs. Cora Matt had two blocks, while Matt had five kills.
In the other end of the district bracket, Mission battled Plains to keep their season alive but fell 25-20, 25-22, 25-14. Steele led the team in kills with eight. Jada Domebo had eight assists and seven digs.
Steele had six digs. Madison Incashola notched six digs and two blocks. Matt had two aces at the service stripe.
Despite those losses, the Lady Bulldogs secured a place in the Divisional Tournament, Nov. 7-9 in Anaconda, where they'll meet Florence Thursday morning.
Mission finished the regular season 7-11.
