Crucial to focus on common ground
In these challenging times, I find myself struggling with deep feelings of confusion and conflict. I recently cast my vote for a candidate who embodies the values of love, inclusivity and kindness that I hold dear. Yet, here we are, facing a reality that seems to contradict those ideals.
What troubles me most is how to reconcile my trust and love for friends and family members who voted for a man who opposes everything I believe in. He supports policies and behaviors that foster hate and division, sentiments that go against my core principles. He has expressed misogynistic views, shown disdain for racial equality, and been involved in unethical practices. Yet, despite all this, those close to me still support him.
When it comes down to it, will you really stand by my side, as I would yours? Would you trust me if we came to a bit of civil war? Will our friendship be tested, now more than ever?
So many people are deleting friends on social media and in real life. What has created this hate and divide?
Ultimately, it is essential to have open, honest conversations, seeking to understand each other's perspectives while setting boundaries to protect our emotional well-being. It is crucial to focus on common ground and judge people by their actions and daily interactions rather than political choices alone.
Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts. I hope we can all strive towards a more understanding and compassionate society.
