Luikart and Vejez-Pete named to All-State soccer

Polson’s Madyson Luikart was named to the Class A All-State Girls Soccer Team, while Edgar Vejez-Pete was named to the All-State Boys Team.

Luikart, a senior forward, scored 22 goals and 13 assists in the 2024 season. She finished her career with Polson with 40 goals and 29 assists.

Haislea Sternick was named a defender to the Southern A Conference First Team. Despite being a defender, she still scored three goals and had five assists. On the second team all-conference, freshman Rosie Lies and junior Kellyn Nelson represented Polson.

Kila Cannon earned honorable mention honors as a senior defender and had one assist on the season.

Edgar Vejez-Pete got all-state honors after a five-goal, one-assist season as a midfielder sophomore. Maddox Bird was named to the first team Southern A All-Conference squad as the junior goalkeeper and was widely credited and praised by Columbia Falls head coach in the Pirates postseason matchup against the Wildcats.

Ted Mausshardt was named to the conference second-team as a senior forward with nine goals and three assists on the year. Cruz Lies, a junior midfielder, was named to the second team for the second year in a row with one assist on the year.

Lucian Sawyer, a senior midfielder, earned an honorable mention as a midfielder with three goals and two assists.

Both Polson squads made the state playoffs in 2024.
