Polson girls and boys drop soccer match-ups to Hamilton

Polson girls fell to conference-undefeated Hamilton 4-1 in Southern A soccer action on Saturday, Sept. 28, on the road. The Lady Broncs scored all its goals in the first half for the victory and improved to 6-0-1 in league play.

After Hamilton got on the board in the third minute, Polson’s Mady Luikart scored seven minutes later on a penalty kick and both teams went in at halftime tied 1-1.

Hamilton then scored in the 16th, 26th and 37th minutes.

Polson fell to 4-3-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in league play.

Polson girls tie Loyola

Polson played Loyola to a 2-2 tie at home on Thursday September 26 in Southern A Conference soccer action.

Rosie Lies scored in the eighth minute on an assist from Kellyn Nelson to give the Lady Pirates a 1-0 advantage. Loyola would equalize it in the 14th minute off a free kick and halftime would see both teams knotted.

Six minutes into the second half, Loyola took the 2-1 lead on a penalty kick. Just before the midpoint of the second half, Lies attempted to take a shot on goal but was clipped and sustained an injury.

In the second half, Ciri Nice made several defensive deflections keeping Loyola out of the goal the rest of the way.

The game remained 2-1 until the 77th minute when Amelia Stene scored on a Mady Luikart assist and the contest finished as a draw.

Loyola had 19 shots on goal, while Polson had 13. Olivia Ramirez notched 10 saves for the Lady Pirates. Loyola also had three yellow cards in the contest.

Pirates fall to Hamilton in soccer action

Polson lost to Hamilton 2-0 on Saturday, September 28, in Western A boys' soccer action, snapping a two-game win streak.

The Pirates fell to 2-2 in conference play and 3-3 overall, while Hamilton tried to keep pace with Stevensville in the conference standings, staying one game behind at 5-1.
