Sleep well, princes of fame and fate

| October 3, 2024 12:00 AM

We will always remember Ed Loder as a good friend and neighbor. Ed did work for us in his shop. When we went to pick up our car, Ed said “you are good customers” and “no charge.”

Ed’s murder was so unexpected and tragic. Driving by Ed’s house, we think of Ed as living forever. The question always comes: why, why, why?

And, although, Joe McDonald passed away some months ago, his legacy was only partly told. As a 16-year-old sophomore in high school in St. Ignatius, he was the quarterback for the only state football championship in the school’s history. He was also a run-and-gun basketball player.

Joe was also the star catcher in baseball, the toughest position to play on the field. He also spent three years as a smokejumper.

Joe was probably the only athlete both in the Indian and Montana Hall of Fame, as both a player and coach.

Sleep well you princes of fame and fate.
