Absentee ballots go out Oct. 11

| October 10, 2024 12:00 AM

According to Lake County Election Administrator Toni Kramer, sample ballots should be available this week at the courthouse in Polson, and absentee ballots go in the mail Friday, Oct. 11, for the general election on Nov. 5.

In addition to a slate of federal, state and county candidates, ballots will include Constitutional Initiatives 126 and 127, which would change the way Montanans vote for elected officials, and 128, which would guarantee citizens a constitutional right to make reproductive decisions, including the right to abortion.

Regular voter registration for the upcoming election closed Monday, but Montanans can still register by 8 p.m. on Election Day at the county election office. Voted ballots must be received in the Lake County Election Office by 8 p.m. Nov. 5 to be counted. Those who are voting absentee ballots are advised to allow at least seven days for their ballots to arrive at the election office.

In-person registration, voting and ballot drop-off are available at the county elections office located at the Lake County Courthouse, 106 4th Ave E, Polson, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The election office will be closed Oct. 14 due to a federal holiday and will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. on Election Day.
