Lake level to drop two feet by month's end

In a recent press release, Energy Keepers announced that over the coming weeks Flathead Lake's elevation will be slowly reduced to approximately 2891 feet by the end of October. Full pool is 2893.

The lake level, which is controlled by Seli'š Ksanka Qlispe' Dam, typically drops in the fall to mitigate the impacts of wave action on shoreline erosion.

The SKQ Dam Overlook Vista, west of Polson, will close Oct. 15, with gates locked for the season, and will reopen on April 15. Visitors who walk the trail down to the scenic dam overlook are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly.
