Polson soccer teams bounced from playoffs

The Polson boys soccer team season came to an end with a 3-0 playoff loss to Columbia Falls on Saturday, Oct. 19. It was a scoreless tie in the first half in the Class A matchup on the Wildcats’ home field, but late in the game Columbia Falls began finding the back of the net.

Bruno Vasquez scored in the 70th minute, and Jackson Scholz scored six minutes later. Javien Mata scored Columbia Falls’ final score on an assist from Isak Soyland in the 77th minute.

Maddox Bird had 19 saves for the Pirates in the matchup. Polson, the South’s three-seed, finishes the season 5-6 while the Wildcats improved to 12-0-1.

Lady Pirates shut out at Billings Central

Playing in their first playoff game since 2019, Polson fell to Billings Central 8-0 in the Western A quarterfinals on Saturday, October 22.

Billings Central led 3-0 at halftime, and the unbeaten Rams scored five more goals in the second half.

Polson last played Billings Central, falling 9-1 in 2019. In 2016, the two teams played each other, and the Lady Pirates went to a shootout where Billings Central advanced.

Polson finished the season 8-4-1, while Billings Central improved to 11-0-2 on the season.
