Salisbury's sentence reinstated for partner assault
A Polson man had his 10-year suspended sentence revoked for violating its terms. Shawn Allen Salisbury, 48, was initially given the 10-year term with the Montana Department of Corrections in District Court in Polson Jan. 17, and shortly afterwards absconded from probation.
Judge Molly Owen re-sentenced Salisbury on Oct. 23 to a total of 10 years with the DOC, with none of that time suspended.
Salisbury was first charged, and pleaded guilty, to felony partner or family member assault for an incident that occurred Sept. 15, 2022.
Then, according to court records, on Dec. 26, 2022, Polson Police responded to a report of an assault at a Polson residence. The victim suffered a cut on her face after Salisbury allegedly threw a wallet at her. Charges from this matter were dismissed at his sentencing in January 2024 as part of a plea agreement.
On Jan. 18, 2023, Polson Police responded to another domestic disturbance involving Salisbury, which resulted in the third charge of felony partner or family member assault. Charging documents show that each case involved the same victim.
Salisbury pleaded guilty to the latter two matters as well.
During his court appearance, Salisbury apologized for wasting the court’s time and acknowledged not adhering to the conditions of the suspended sentence. He also brought up his addiction to drugs and alcohol.
Judge Owen gave Salisbury credit for the 98 days in jail served up until the Jan. 17 sentencing, plus another 107 days for his most recent stay.
